FAQ
Questions? Just ask.
Are you currently accepting commissions? How far are you booked?
I’m currently accepting commissions and booked between 2 and 4 months. However, if you have a special occasion, I can often accommodate any deadline. Just ask, and I’ll let you know if it’s possible!
I want you to paint all my animals together, but I don’t have a photo of them altogether. Is that a problem?
Not at all! I often use individual reference photos to create portraits with multiple subjects, so there’s no need to provide a single photo with everyone together—no worries!
I just want a plain color background, or a white background, can you do that?
Absolutely! I began my career by drawing plain backgrounds, so I can easily leave the background out, create a single complementary tone, or coordinate with your décor. I often use this style for clients who prefer a simpler look.
Do you ever paint people?
Yes, I started with human portraits before moving on to animals. Since painting people takes a bit longer, I provide custom quotes for human portraits. Feel free to ask for more information.
Does my portrait come framed?
I prefer my clients to frame their pieces after receiving them for two reasons: first, framing is a personal choice best made in person. Second, framed pieces are heavier, leading to costly shipping and a higher risk of breakage. I’ve found it’s much safer to ship the painting unframed.
What do you recommend for framing?
I recommend having your portrait professionally framed at a frame shop if possible.
If you’re on a budget, consider visiting Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Choose a frame one size larger than your portrait and bring it to the “Frame Counter.” Ask a framer to cut a custom mat for your piece. This way, you can achieve a lovely frame with professional help at a lower cost.
To ensure the longevity of your artwork, I recommend using UV glass for framing and hanging your piece in a location away from direct sunlight.
